Ok where to start?
I’ll start by saying I liked the original better for many reasons. One major one reason was that they didn’t dive into Spider-man’s discovery of his powers in the new one. He already just kinda knew what he was doing. Whereas in the original Spider-man Tobey Maguire was checking out his newfound muscles and tried doing a whole bunch of hand movements to try and shoot his web. Genius.
I think Tobey was a better spider-man overall, but hunky Andrew Garfield was a perfect Peter Parker, complete with awkward conversations. Adorable. Emma Stone as the beloved Gwen was so much less annoying than Mary Jane. I hate Mary Jane. Don’t get me started on Mary Jane.
Another big thing for me was the special effects. It’s like special effects overload. Also, The Lizard? Probably one of the worst complete CGI creations I’ve ever seen. I hated every scene with him because it looked so horribly fake, and stupid. So stupid.
Also, I felt little to no emotions for any of the characters. Even poor old Uncle Ben. I wasn’t attached. I was more interested in Peter Parker’s story more than anything.. In the original, you tend to have a great emotional attatchment to Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and even Harry. That being said, James Franco as Harry does help things.
Basically… Overall… Meh
